Capturing and analysing new customer requirements for multi-disciplinary systems and designing the resulting systems solutions.  This will include both new projects and variations to the existing projects.

Analysing, designing and developing of ticketing technologies.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provision of smartcard and ticketing expertise to the project teams

Capture and analysis of customer requirements; including the running of requirement capture meetings and workshops with the clients.

Requirements analysis and management.

Investigation of existing systems to determine the impact of enhancement requests and potential solution reuse.

Overview and design of solutions using appropriate modelling methods and tools (e.g. UML).

Contribute to estimating and planning development activities.

Reviewing and inspecting the work of other analysts and developers.

Investigating fault reports to determine root cause and propose solutions.

Take an active interest in the latest developments in the respective engineering fields as appropriate to the task.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the supervisor/manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required of them.

REQUIRMENTS

Relationships:    This role will involve regular contact with project sponsors and business users within the company’s clients.  Within the company, it will involve working within a team of systems engineers, interacting with project management, business management, suppliers and business partners.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS:           

Degree level Education in relevant discipline or equivalent qualifications

EXPERIENCE:

Experience of systems analysis and application design using payment technologies.

Knowledge of contactless proximity smart cards and associated technologies used for ticketing.

Ticketing and automated fare collection or similar applications involving large networks of unattended/passenger-operated devices.

Requirements management, ideally using the DOORS product.

Tool driven system design using UML or another structured methodology.

Implementation and deployment knowledge from Windows and UNIX environments.

Knowledge of financial and regulatory practices within business.
